The
provisional Commanderie of South Australia was established in 1983, and
confirmed on 1 January, 1985. The Commanderie was raised to Priory status on 11
April, 1992, with the then
Chevalier Commander Doug Symons OAM, JP as the first
Prior. Following the election of
Conventional Bailiff Doug Symons OAM, JP, GCSJ,
OMSJ, CMSJ as Grand Marshal of the Order,
Chevalier Victor Techritz AM, GCSJ was elected as the second Prior of South
Australia in 2001. He in turn had to stand down when appointed as the Grand
Prior of the Grand Priory of Southern Australia and
H.E. Baliff the Hon Roger Goldsworthy AO, JP,
GCSJ was elected as the third Prior of South Australia on 24
June, 2006. |

The South Australian Priory holds monthly meetings, with a member
as speaker on a variety of topics following general business at each meeting.
Partners attend alternate meetings. Other functions held through the year
include The Siege of Malta Cocktail Party at which a member speaks on some
aspect of the Siege, a Charity Lunch with an invited Guest Speaker, and a
Christmas Dinner. An Investiture is held annually at Christ Church, North
Adelaide, followed by a Celebratory Dinner, and a Chapter Meeting is held the
following day. The charity supported by the Priory is the Mary Potter
Foundation. |
